KLIMAWELLE and Climate Responsibility |
nach dem Forum |
Future wars?- Conflicts in
times of Climate Change
Thursday, June 10,
2010; 19.45h
University of Bonn; Auditorium 17 (Anglistics)
Regina
Pacis Weg 5
The actual dimensions of climate change
have the potential to cause severe natural desasters,
economic
crisis and political instability. Climate Change will increase the
appearance
of fl oods and draughts and will force millions of
people to fl ee from their homes so that we
will experience more
confl icts about farmland, water and food. According to the UN
20
million people were made homeless because of climate related
disasters in 2008.
Some world regions (like Africa, Asia and Latin
America) will suffer a rise of civil unrest
and violent confl icts
whereas the occurence of spill-over effects could destabilize
whole
regions and culminate in the collaps of institutionalized
regional and global control mechanisms.
We would like to invite
you to spend this evening with us, to be informed about the
expected
Climate Change driven global confl icts and to discuss
social just and responsible
solutions for a sustainable
development.

Klimawelle
(Link: http://www.klimawelle.de/Englisch.html)
Klimawelle holds the view that individual strategies for action are necessary and valid.
Therefore, it is crucial to promote sustainable consumption in our society. This means: an attitude towards daily consumption that does not follow the logic of maximized consumption, but instead seeks to consciously consume only that which is necessary.
